Continuous Integration is a methodology for software development that emphasizes a high frequency, continual and ongoing process of merging different code projects.
Zero Touch Deployment
Continous Deployment builds on this established principle to also add the deployment part of the software life-cycle, so that the integration and higher frequency updates are also extended across the 'DevOps' functions, making possible 'Zero Touch Continuous Deployment'.
This integration is conveyed through the idea of ‘Infrastructure as Code’, explained by one of the G-Cloud Digital team Gareth Rushgrove in this presentation: Continuous Integration for Infrastructure.
